In last week’ s Torah Portion T’rumah, God speaks of the construction of the portable Ark, the Mishkan. The Mishkan is beautiful and elaborately decorated. We too have a portable Ark at TSS. On the High Holydays when Ed Lewis unveiled his creation and we saw the beauty of our Ark, I thought of how our ancestors must have felt when they unveiled their Mishkan. In the Torah it said the Shechinah the womanly spirit of God dwelled in the Mishkan. The Shechinah watches over us like a mother protecting us and inspiring us to feel the immanent God. Whenever we see our Ark or come together let us allow the Shechina to come into our midst and feel the presence of God.
Last Sunday a number of us went to the new National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. It was a wonderful trip, being together and sharing an educational experience . There is always something to learn when a docent explains what we are seeing. We all thank Janet Hogan for planning the trip.
Next Wednesday night please join TSS for our Purim Service and dinner. It should be fun and educational. Thank you Lisa Sydlow for planning the event.
