Sing-along with the Wandering Jews – Secular Music Jam

Join the Wandering Jews for an evening of secular pop and folk music. You will know all the songs, but we will have song sheets just in case.

If you can play an instrument, bring it along! Got a drum? – bring it along! Got a pan and wooden spoon? – Bring it along! Got a kazoo? – Bring it along (although it is difficult to sing and play kazoo at the same time).

Time: 7:00 PM

Date: Sunday, November 10th

Location: Belmont Hootenany Hall

We can’t guarantee the music quality, but it definitely will be fun! Join us!

Tools for School 2013

This summer, we at Temple Shirat Shalom are helping some Allentown grade school children get ready for the new school year by donating Tools for School.

We will be helping the kids at the Cleveland School, in Allentown (9th and Liberty).

The school has 365 students from grades 1st – 5th.

The school has a poverty rate of 91%!

Let’s pull together to provide these young students with the tools they will need to learn.

Items in need:

-pocket file folders for storing papers
-colored pencils (not crayons)
-hand sanitizer
-pencils (especially with designs – prefer not yellow)
-book bags and backpacks
-pencil boxes
-clip boards

Ways to help (Easy as 1-2-3):

  1. Donate cash ($10 and up)
  2. Drop off new supplies (contact Cheryl or Marcia about drop-off locations)
  3. Help us shop for supplies, or if you are shopping for your kids, pick up an extra and donate it!

Checks should be made out to Temple Shirat Shalom – attention: Tools for School.

Mail to Cheryl Shadick at: 3007 Kerns Ct., Orefield, PA 18069.

100% of donations will be used for school supplies.

We would like to complete this project by August 22nd, to deliver the supplies by the start of school.
Let’s help these kids get ready for the new school year!

TSS Garage Sale a Booming Success!!!

We had an exceptional involvement for the garage sale, with numerous donors, helpers, organizers, sellers, cleaner-uppers, and emotional supporters. Because of the group effort, we raised $1600. for the Temple, so that we can continue our events and programs. WOW!!

Thanks so much to Liz and Joel Kamp for all their time and energy and allowing us to overwhelm their house with our STUFF.

And thanks a million times to Jett and Liz for organizing everyone and everything so well!

The following people were working their butts off on Saturday May 18 for pick up and delivery, and Sunday May 19th for the sale:
